FAWE Girls’ School is named after the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) which is a Pan African women’s organization whose mission is to support girls’ and women acquire Education for development. FAWE Girls’ School- Gisozi-Kigali is a public boarding school which began during the academic year 1999/2000 and was officially inaugurated by His Excellence Paul KAGAME, The President of The Republic of Rwanda.
The school was founded by Rwandan Ladies who belonged to FAWE Rwanda Chapter with the aim of promoting education of a girl child especially in scientific fields. It’s a public boarding school which was built by the government of Rwanda. On request of FAWE Rwanda Chapter the government offered the buildings for the establishment of what is now FAWE Girls’ School for purposes of promoting girls’ education.
The school has both Ordinary and Advanced levels. For the advanced level, there are four combinations namely: PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics), PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), MPC (Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science) and MCB (Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology). It is worth noting that the performance of our students is very good and improves year by year. FAWE Girls’ School – Gisozi-Kigali is among the few schools where children coming from low- and middle-income revenue families get appropriate education and become role players in the development of Rwanda in particular and worldwide in general. FAWE Alumni work in different domains; for instance, in Health, Education, Business, Politics, Aviation, Human resources, Civil Engineering, Marketing and Communication, Sales Companies, Weather Forecasting, Agriculture, Law, Finance (Banking Sector) among others.
